We have two Windows 11 laptops, an Acer Swift 3 and a Dell Inspiron 14, 5415 (both less than a year old) wirelessly connected to an HP Deskjet 4122E (itself less than six months old). All was working well until a couple of weeks ago when the Word (Office 365) print box on the Dell suddenly stopped with a message saying there was a job in the queue and it would no long print. On checking the Acer the same message appeared. Checking the print queue box to delete the mystery item showed there was nothing to be printed. I restarted the laptops and the router (twice) with no improvement.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer from both computers and deleted the HP Smart software but the result was still the same. Thinking that as the same message appeared on both computers the fault might be in the printer I returned it to the dealer who exchanged it for an HP Envy 6023e which I have attempted to install complete with HP Smart but the software is unable to finish setup.
Has something in Windows become corrupted or has an update failed? Any advice?
