Investment firm Marlin Equity Partners has acquired a majority shareholding in Manchester, UK-based Cloud Technology Solutions (CTS), a cloud services implementation provider tied to Google’s cloud computing stack.
The latter was advised on the transaction by Arma Partners, a financial advisory firm focused on the digital economy’s innovation ecosystem.
CTS was formed to help European organisations meet their IT goals using Google’s public cloud, offering expert guidance and support and taking care of the client’s cloud billing estimates.
Google Cloud is one of the big three public clouds, alongside Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
CTS offers services through two distinct businesses: its main CTS brand helps modernise enterprise IT using Google Cloud while a second brand, CloudM, addresses cloud migration software and management on Google Workspace and also Microsoft’s Office 365.
According to Marlin Equity Partners, CTS has proven to be one of Google’s “largest and fastest growing” European cloud partners.
A major UK government department, the Cabinet Office, is among its biggest clients as is the cross-border parcel courier DPD and Travis Perkins, a UK supplier of building work materials.
CTS currently has more than 270 employees, situated across three UK offices and in the Dutch city Utrecht. Following Marlin’s investment, CTS’s existing backer NorthEdge Capital will still participate as a minority equity partner, having first invested in 2018.
The business was founded in 2008 and soon became a “premier partner” of Google’s cloud app ecosystem. In 2016, CTS said it had acquired a technical data archiving startup, Archive360, to enhance migrations of data archives across Google’s ecosystem.
